Curt Lankester I never thought I would experience profound ambient music again. I have searched and searched for albums that would approach the early works of Eno / Fripp / Lanois and have always come up short. This album is the closest I have come in that search... Stephen... I am blown away... your most "definitive ambient statement to date"?... how about ONE OF THE most definitive ambient albums EVER. Favorite track: The Mountain and the Sky.

Calhoun Smith I appreciate Curt Lankester's comments. I feel strongly about this record too. Beyond mentions of Eno/Fripp/Lanois, there is something that is its own in subtractiveLAD records. I am also familiar with Life at the End of the World and Where the Land Meets the Sky. Both beautiful records. This one deepens its own game with an even greater variety of expansive, moving spaces. Favorite track: Waking.

about

Deeper explorations into sonic vistas of ambient guitar and analogue synthesizers. Intimate motifs give way to submerged landscapes.

Meditative and escapist, this double-length album is subtractiveLAD's most definitive ambient statement to date.

An album of peacefulness and catharsis born of tumultuous times.

These mixes are the high-res masters and FLAC listeners will enjoy 88.2 kHz / 24 bit fidelity.

"The dozen settings on Sustain / Release emerge, it seems, of their own accord, as if their Vancouver-based creator has allowed the music to pass through him into the world, and his technical abilities have reached a stage where emotional states can be rendered into physical form with no apparent difficulty whatsoever."

Igloo Magazine:

"...a collection of highly emotional, dream-like and languorous soundscapes..."

about

Stephen Hummel Vancouver, British Columbia

Music has always been a central part of my life. Over the years, as I have developed as an artist, my music has become the primary filter through which I process my experiences and emotions. My creative approach is to use the recording studio as an instrument of expression - to use technology as an extension of physical performance. Improvisation is always a core part of my creative process. ... more
